Spring?!

Finally, a small taste of spring has arrived, and I couldn't wait to bring it inside to enjoy over the coming days:

I've also been playing... with cupcakes. Normally pink isn't quite "my" colour, but these just looked good together:

Wait till I show you what I've planned!! Now I look at them on one page, the flowers have a similar colour as the fabrics...

Finally, a finish and some sun...

"AFTER"

In the last post I mentioned the project I took with me on my travels - well, TAH DAH!! The English-Paper-Pieced  lozenge-like shapes have been sewn together into some version of octagons...

The octagons joined into two pairs... and then appliquéd and quilted...
a good time to practise some machine quilting:

And...

...even the sun came out for this one!!!

Away from home...

Most of last week I've been away, to meet up with my Mum and Sis and Brother-in-law. We met up more or less in the middle of where we all live, which meant we all travelled a long way. However, it must have been planned rather well (not by me...), because after hours (and hours) of travelling we arrived at the agreed meeting place within 5 minutes of each other!! Then a few more hours of travelling together, and as a reward, we got to sit in the sun for a couple of hours of catch-up with a cuppa - yippee!!

The next few days we spent together, sharing memories and catching up, and generally enjoying each other's company:

Plenty of beaches, but no sun...

Waves crashing on the rocks in the increasingly bitter wind...

Wandering around in Barbara Hepworth's sheltered garden...

I did bring some sewing (of course!) for in the evenings, and for on the train home;

"before" my travels

Soon I'll be showing you the project "after" my travels...

In the mean time... I'll be sewing, of course

Mini quilt...

...maxi joy...

The past few days have been enormously busy: The children are home on their Easter Holidays and though they do not need 24/7 care any more, I cannot ignore them completely either (sometimes I try, but I usually regret it). The (part-time, but paid) day job is very busy at the moment, too, and since I will not be around next week there is a lot that needs to be finished.

And then, since I will be travelling, I have been working out what project I could take along. Of course that means a NEW project!! - I am great at starting new projects! But no photos yet.

I was actually looking for a NICE photograph of myself (which seems not to exist), when I came across this project made a couple of years ago for a little girl's doll:

Quilted by machine in a wavy stitch along the seam lines (you may just be able to see it):
And bound with a single binding:
Lovely little project, and a very happy little girl!
